Marty Duane Bales

Marty Duane Bales, 56, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died March 3, 2018, at his home.

He was born on May 1, 1962, in Pryor, Okla., to Austin Bales and Faye Britton Bales. He married Linda Gail Peyton on March 3, 1996. He was an over-the-road truck driver, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing anything outdoors, especially with his children, and telling a good story. He was a Jehovah Witness and spent time studying the Bible.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Timothy Bales of Disney, Okla., Tommy Cremer of West Siloam Springs, Jimmy Cremer of West Siloam Springs and Jerry Cremer of San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Amanda Bales of Vinita, Okla., Amanda Foreman of West Siloam Springs, Mary Hass of Kankakee, Ill., and Pamela McDonald of Springdale, Ark.; three brothers, Darrell Bales of Lexington, Okla., Harold Bales, of Tahlequah, Okla., and Martin Bales of Siloam Springs, Ark.; five sisters, Wilma Bales of Colcord, Okla., Walea Garcia of San Diego, Texas, Walletta Cotton of Siloam Springs, Anita Kay Britton of Muskogee, Okla., and Doris Pool of Chelsea, Okla. ; 23 grandchild­ren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at the BackstromP­yeatte Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Burial will be at the Row Cemetery in Colcord.

John Henry Fry

John Henry Fry was born October 26, 1931, to Ted and Florence Fry in a field by a field near Hart, Mo., which is near Seneca, Mo. He died March 5, 2018 in Wichita, Kan.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953 in Pfaffenhof­en, Germany, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was employed as a telegraphe­r for Missouri Pacific Railroad and later as a car distributo­r and then as a senior claims representa­tive for the Union Pacific Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Jean (Forson) Fry. He is also survived by three children, Larry (Myra) Fry of Columbus, Miss., Vicki (Darrell) Larson of Andover, Kan., and Cindy (Mark) Colley of Owasso, Okla.; seven grandchild­ren, Amy (Graham) Thomas of Siloam Springs, Ark., Vanessa ( Jeremy) Thomson of Kansas City, Kan., Jonathan (Toni) Fry of Columbus, Miss., DeAnn (Tim) Bruner of Salina, Kan., Jordan (Casee) Colley of Owasso, Okla., Aaron (Anna Hope) Colley of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Sarah Larson of Kansas City, Mo.; and 13 greatgrand­children.

He was predecease­d by his parents; his brothers, Junior Fry and Gene Fry; sisters, Phyllis Ross and Erma Heger; and grandson, Bryan James Larson.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Hillside Funeral Home West in Wichita, Kan. The funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Evangel Assembly Of God Church, 11444 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205. Burial is at 4:30 p.m. March 9 at Swars Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery in Seneca, with Military Honors by U.S. Army. Memorials may be made to Evangel Assembly of God Church.

Peggy Sue Odle

Peggy Sue Odle, 80, of Gentry, Ark., died Feb. 24, 2018, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

She was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Gentry, to Bill Guthrie and Ruby Strand Guthrie. She married Nick Odle on July 23, 1955, in Gentry. They lived in Porter, Texas, for 10 years before returning to Benton County, Ark. She worked as a dental hygienist. She was a member of the Gentry United Methodist Church and attended the Gentry Senior Center regularly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Terry Jackson.

She is survived by a granddaugh­ter, Holly Hill of Gentry; a brother, John Guthrie of Van Buren, Ark.; and a sister, Shirley Hinton of Bainbridge Island, Wash.

A celebratio­n of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Gentry United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762 or Gentry United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 549, Gentry, AR 72734.

Richard P. Underwood

Richard P. Underwood, 73, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died March 3, 2018, at his home.

He was born April 19, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to Robert Ackelson Underwood and Frances Belangee Underwood. He married Mary “Kathy” Trinkl on Oct. 25, 1986, and years later moved to this area. He worked for Sam’s Club in electronic sales and served in the U.S. Marines.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Myers and husband Craig of Crossett, Ark.; two brothers, Wayne Underwood of Manhattan, Mont., and Gerry Underwood of Oceanside, Calif.; and a sister, Louise Underwood of Fort Worth, Texas.
