Post 29 serving during Dogwood Festival
The American Legion Post 29 and the American Legion Auxiliary will be serving lunch at the American Legion Community Building during the 44th annual Dogwood Festival. On Friday, April 27, there will be corn bread and beans. On Saturday, April 28, there will be a spaghetti lunch. Meals will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day and are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12 and free for children ages 4 and younger. The Community Building is located at 110 N. Mount Olive.
Art Feeds Community Mural reveal
A mural designed by students at Northside Elementary School will be revealed on Thursday, April 19. The artwork will be installed on the side of Arvest Bank, located at 108 E. University St. A student parade will be held at 9:15 a.m. followed by the mural reveal at 9:30 a.m. The mural is a result of collaboration between Art Feeds, Main Street Siloam Springs, Arvest Bank and Siloam Springs Schools.
Meals on Wheels
The Siloam Springs Meals on Wheels program needs a volunteer to deliver a meal route every Tuesday. The route takes an hour to complete. Contact the Senior Activity & Wellness Center at 479524-5735.
Victorian Tea Party
Siloam Springs Museum will hold its second Victorian Tea Party from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at The Courtyard Event Center. Participants are invited to dress in their best late 1800s attire to enjoy tea and dessert, and get a sense of how Siloam Springs looked and felt in the late 19th century. SSRH Auxiliary Volunteer Drive
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary is looking for willing volunteers for the information drive, obstetrics department, radiology department, surgery department and materials management. The Auxiliary offers an opportunity to help the community while working three or four hours a week. Diabetic nutrition class
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will present a diabetic nutrition class and free luncheon at noon on Monday, March 26. The “Get Your Plate Into Shape” class will be held in Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 1 at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. Lunch is provided.
Take Control of Your Health talk is March 29
Dr. Patrick Schiefelbein, of Surgical Associates of Siloam Springs, will discuss the importance of colonoscopies during a “Take Control of Your Health” talk at 12:15 p.m. March 29 in Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 1. Schiefelbein will discuss topics such as the recommended age for colonoscopies, the process of starting the first appointment, the procedure and what patients will learn at their follow-up appointment. Schiefelbein is a member of the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s medical staff.
Coffee with the Commander
Each Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Siloam Post 29 of The American Legion hosts “Coffee with the Commander.” A time for those who served to enjoy the camaraderie that they experienced during their time with “Uncle Sam.” The event is held in the basement of the American Legion Community Hall locate at 110 N. Mount Olive. The coffee and donuts are fresh, the conversation is usually lively, jolly and informative. Medical Scholarships
The Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary is offering scholarships to adults who are studying for the medical field. Applicants must have already graduated from high school and are currently enrolled or will be enrolled in an institution to pursue their medical related studies. Application forms may be picked up at the front desk at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. Forms must be completed and returned to the hospital no later than April 1. All applicants will be contacted with the result within 45 days.
Friends of the Library Bookstore
The Friends of the Library Bookstore — located in Siloam Springs Public Library — has an assortment of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audio books — most priced under $2. Signs in the library will guide patrons to the bookstore area which is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Friends of the Library uses all proceeds from the store to benefit the library, especially the children’s summer reading programs. Donations of used books and electronic media in good condition are always welcomed.
Senior Activity Center
The Siloam Springs Senior Activity & Wellness Center invites anyone over the age of 60 to come to the center for lunch.
The center is located at 750 Heritage Court. Cost for lunch is $3 donation per meal. There is an exercise room and game room for guests’ enjoyment. If you need a ride, the center’s van can pick you up. Call 479-524-5735 for more information. Menus and activities calendar is available in the lobby.
