City, county sales tax receipts up in February

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $54,719 in February compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $744,280 in February 2018, compared to $689,561 in February, according to the March issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were also up $50,637 from $293,750 in February 2017 to $344,387 in February 2018 after slumping for several months.

The city’s sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastruc­ture, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city’s general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastruc­ture bonds.

Other local cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts last month were:

• Bentonvill­e, up $1.99 million to $3.39 million

• Eureka Springs, up $15,648 to $184,077

• Fayettevil­le, up $216,650 to $4.3 million

•Gentry, up $7,836 to $57,902

• Springdale, up $253,291 to $2.6 million

Cities that saw a decrease in sales tax receipts last month were:

• Rogers, down $29,733 to $3.8 million.
