George ‘Buzz’ Chaney Jr.
George “Buzz” Chaney Jr., went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2018, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born on October 28, 1927, to George Roscoe Chaney Sr., and Lucy Chaney of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. George married Ruby Lee Pardue on January 23, 1948. They were married for 62 years. They had four children, Mike, Terry, Susan and Tim.
George graduated from Siloam Springs High School and Fort Wayne College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the city of Siloam Springs as Director of Utilities for 25 years and for over 20 years with IBEW Local 53 & Local 700 in the electrical field. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
When he retired, he drove the elderly and disabled taxi, delivered meals on wheels, worked at the Siloam Springs Library, and enjoyed his time at his farm with the cattle and horses. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Siloam Springs and was a 32nd degree Mason.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; two sons, Mike and Tim; and two sisters, Dorothy and Betty.
He leaves behind his children, Terry Chaney and wife Gloria of Houston, Texas, and Susan Jarrett and husband Chris of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Mike and wife Heather, Chris and wife Katharine, Scott and wife Sherri, and Jenny; and five great-grandchildren, Lexie, Mason, Hailey, Blane, and Jack.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, with Pastor Tim Estes officiating. Burial will be private. There will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E.
