Golfers lose at Greenwood, beat Van Buren

FORT SMITH — The Siloam Springs golf teams were defeated in a pair of 18-hole matches Thursday against Greenwood at Ben Geren Golf Course in Fort Smith.

In boys action, Greenwood defeated the Panthers 325-348, while the Lady Panthers were defeated 264-282.

Evan Griffith shot a 71 to lead the Bulldogs to earn medalist honors, beating out Siloam Springs’ Karson Clement, who shot a 78.

Greenwood’s Bradley Brotherton and Siloam Springs’ Chase Beyer each shot 82, while Greenwood’s Brady Fein and Cameron Adams each shot 86. Landon Tuck rounded out Greenwood’s scoring with a 90.

Senior Trey Jackson carded Siloam Springs’ third best score with a 92, followed by junior Evan Sauer 96 and senior Josh Johnson 101. Ethan Owens shot a 101 in junior varsity action, while Breck Soderquist shot a 104 and Max Perkins a 107.

In the girls match, Greenwood’s Grace Woody shot an 83, while Hallie Jones had an 87 for the top two scores of the day. Ella Austin shot 94 for Greenwood, while Jordyn Lane shot 95 and Jaelee Mohetau 108.

Kaitlyn Robinson led Siloam Springs with an 89, while McKenzie Blanchard shot 94, Jaelee Snyder 99, Kendall McCormick 105 and Kendi Williamson 124. Chloe Rocha shot a 122 in junior varsity action.

SSHS-Van Buren

ALMA — The Siloam Springs boys golf picked up a victory on Tuesday in a nine-hole matche against Van Buren at Eagle Crest Golf Course.

The girls team also played, but Van Buren only had two golfers and was not able to record a team score.

The Panthers shot a four-player total of 180 to beat out Van Buren’s score of 194.

Senior Karson Clement led the Panthers with a 41 for the low round of the day, while senior Trey Jackson shot 45 and senior Chase Beyer carded a 46. Junior Evan Sauer finished with a 48, while senior Josh Johnson shot 51. Max Perkins shot 50 in junior varsity action.

Had they played a team match, the Lady Panthers would have finished with a count-three team score of 156. Senior Kendall McCormick shot 51, followed by senior Kaitlyn Robinson at 52 and seniors McKenzie Blanchard and Jaelee Snyder both at 53. Kendi Williamson shot 64, while Chloe Rocha finished with a 62 in JV action.

Up next

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are scheduled to host Alma and Bentonvill­e West for a nine-hole match Monday at Siloam Springs Country Club.
