Golf teams headed to State

FORT SMITH — The Siloam Springs golf teams are state tournament bound.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers clinched their spots Monday by finishing in top three at the 5A-West Conference Tournament at Ben Geren Golf Course.

Little Rock Christian won the boys match with a team score of 297, followed by Greenwood 312 and Siloam Springs 329, Greenbrier 378, Vilonia 379, Alma 394, Beebe 400 and Russellvil­le 408.

Seniors Karson Clement and Chase Beyer each shot 77 to lead the Panthers and earn All-Conference honors. Senior Josh Johnson carded an 94, while junior Evan Sauer shot 91 and senior Trey Jackson had a 95.

In the girls match, Greenwood shot a 262 to finish as conference champions, while Siloam Springs and Greenbrier tied for second at 271, earning the team spots. Little Rock Christian shot 314, while Russellvil­le turned in a team score of 345. Alma, Vilonia and Beebe did not have enough players to field a team score.

Seniors Kaitlyn Robinson and Kendall McCormick shot 89 and 90, respective­ly, to lead the Lady Panthers and earn All-Conference honors. Senior McKenzie Blanchard shot 92, while senior Jaelee Snyder carded a 96.

The Siloam Springs golf teams are scheduled to play Fayettevil­le and Greenwood on Thursday at Fayettevil­le Country Club in their final regular season match.

The 5A girls state tournament is Sept. 26 at Hot Springs Country Club, while the 5A boys state tournament is Oct. 2 at Paragould Country Club.
