SSHS XC teams compete at Chile Pepper

FAYETTEVIL­LE — The Siloam Springs girls cross country team placed 36th out of 79 teams competing in the “El Caliente” division of the annual Chile Pepper Festival race on Saturday at Agri Park.

The Lady Panthers were one of 79 teams competing in the event and a total of 576 runners were in the “El Caliente” race.

Keller (Texas) Blue finished first in the race, led by top finisher Isabel Van Camp who ran a time of 18 minutes, 6.1 seconds.

Chloe McGooden was the Lady Panthers’ top finisher with a time of 21:38.1, placing 183rd.

Quincy Efurd finished 203rd place at 21:47.8, while Claudia Mercado was 247th at 22:20.1 and Candy Dubon 256th at 22:27.8.

Sydney Moorman placed 262nd at 22:30.8, while Kailey Pentz was 318th at 23:13.0, Brittany Pilcher 319th at 23:14.0 and Rebekah Rodgers 23:14.8.

Siloam Springs had six girls run in the 5K Open division.

Abby Thompson placed 207th overall with a time of 25:32.4, followed by Jordan Rush 236th at 26:19.8, Katie Bishop 261st at 27:33.9, Isabel Carrion 274th at 28:01.0, Kendra Reimer 279th at 28:18.9 and Mary Grace Green 308th at 31:16.4.

Boys

The Panthers placed 63rd overall in the “El Caliente” boys division, which had 87 teams competing and 651 runners.

The Woodlands (Texas) took first place in the meet, and Fayettevil­le’s Camren Fischer was the top overall finisher with a time of 15:20.3.

Kerrig Kelly was the top runner for Siloam Springs, finishing 209th with a time of 17:39.5.

Michael Capehart finished 227th at 17:46.9, while Samuel Granderson placed 332nd at 18:27.8.

Adam Kennedy finished 453rd with a time of 19:33.0, while Blake Morrison was 485th at 19:55.1, Luke Fields 531st at 20:50.6, Ben Humphries 559th at 22:20.7 and Seth Funk 23:26.4.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are scheduled to run at Berryville on Saturday morning.
