Ninth-grade volleyball wins match at Huntsville

The Lady Panthers featured a balanced offense with Dorothy Swearingen, Makaylee Reicheneke­r, Cora Dewey and Brianna Wood each contributi­ng two kills. Sophia Lange and Jensen Kelly also had one kill apiece. Allison Williamson and Reicheneke­r each had two aces, while Swearingen had one ace.

HUNTSVILLE — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade volleyball team picked up a 2-0 victory at Huntsville on Monday afternoon in nonconfere­nce action.

The Lady Panthers won the first set 25-23 and then finished off the Lady Eagles 25-17 in the second set.

The Lady Panthers featured a balanced offense with Dorothy Swearingen, Makaylee Reicheneke­r, Cora Dewey and Brianna Wood each contributi­ng two kills.

Sophia Lange and Jensen Kelly also had one kill apiece.

Allison Williamson and Reicheneke­r each had two aces, while Swearingen had one ace.

Over the weekend, the freshmen competed in the Fort Smith Invitation­al, where the Lady Panthers won one match, lost two and split two.

Siloam Springs split with Fort Smith Ramsey (25-21, 16-25) and lost to Van Buren 2-0 (25-16, 25-17).

The Lady Panthers split with Fort Smith Chaffin (25-19, 24-26) and then defeated Fort Smith Darby 2-0 (25-20, 25-11).

The Lady Panthers lost to Rogers Heritage 2-0 (25-20, 25-11) and finished second in the silver bracket.

Stats over the weekend included Wood with 14 kills and one block, Swearingen 11 kills and three blocks, Dewey five kills, Lange five kills, Williamson five aces, Emma Norberg eight aces, and Reicheneke­r one block.

The freshmen are scheduled to return to action Thursday at Springdale Central.

The seventh- and eighth-grade teams played at Springdale George (Kelly) on Monday and hosted Rogers Kirksey on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.

Both teams are back in action Monday at Springdale Central (Hellstern).
