Freshmen defeat Fayetteville White
The Siloam Springs freshman football team picked up a 28-6 victory over Fayetteville White on Thursday night at Panther Stadium.
The Panthers led 14-0 at halftime and outscored the Bulldogs 14-6 in the second half.
Hunter Talley and Zachary Hull each scored two touchdowns for Siloam Springs (3-2), while Cortez kicked four extra points.
The Panthers’ offensive line of Martin Reyes, J.P. Wills, Walter Cortez, Jace Sutulovich and Alexis Miranda had a strong night along with tight ends/Hbacks Brendan Lashley and Caden McHaney.
Defensively, Wills Sutulovich and Sheldon Wilson got good pressure on White’s quarterback and each accounted for a sack. Wills also recovered a fumble.
The Panthers played well in pass coverage led by secondary players Malachi Taylor, Tanner Kear, Jake McDaniel, Christian Ledeker and Braden Fain.
Eighth-grade
The eighth-grade Panthers fell 41-6 to Fayetteville Woodland.
Woodland took a 35-6 lead at halftime with the Panthers’ only score coming on a 10-yard pass from Tyson Seyer to Jose Rico.
Kevin Pettit recovered two fumbles for Siloam Springs (1-4) and blocked a point-after-touchdown. Stone Stephens and Hunter Jenkins each forced a fumble.
Seventh-grade
Woodland handed the seventh-grade team its first loss of the season 16-12.
Woodland led 8-6 at halftime, and the Panthers (3-1) had a drive stall in the red zone with less than a minute-and-a-half remaining in the game.
Jed Derwin finished with 20 carries for 153 yds and a touchdown. Logan Keaton threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Sandoval.
Sandoval led with 4 1/2 tackles, while Derwin had three and Justin Burton two tackles, including one for loss.
