Farmers Market transitions from outdoors to online

- From Staff Reports

Siloam Springs Farmers Market will transition from the outdoor market to the online fall/winter market this month.

The last outdoor market of the 2018 season will be held in City Park on Saturday, Oct. 13. A customer appreciation day is planned to celebrate the occasion and will include door prizes, balloons and a fun fall photo booth.

The online market will continue through the fall and winter, with the first pick-up date planned for Saturday, Oct. 20. This year, the market is moving the pick-up location to Pour Jons and the hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

“We are so excited to partner with (Pour Jons),” Farmers Market Manager Stacy Hester said in a press release. “You can place an order during the week and then plan to meet up with your friends for coffee or just grab a cup to go when you’re picking up your order.”

To place an order through the online market, visit www.siloamsprings.locallygrown.net and create a free account, then browse what the market has to offer. Vendors will be selling seasonal produce, pastured meats, farm fresh eggs, fresh baked goods, honey, all natural personal and home care products and handcrafted items.

The market now offers the option to pay for orders online with a debit/credit card. Orders can also be paid for with cash or SNAP/ EBT benefits when they are picked up. The market will continue to be able to match SNAP transactions with the Double Your Dollar and Double Up Food Bucks programs for as long as funding is still available.

For more information, stop by the outdoor market and visit the market manager at the Market Welcome Station, or email farmersmarket@mainstreetsiloamsprings.org.

“Our customers truly enjoy the ability to continue purchasing fresh, locally grown foods year round through the Siloam Springs Online Farmers Market and our farmers, makers, and bakers enjoy being able to provide our customers with access to these products” said Hester. “It’s a win/win for everyone.”

The Siloam Springs Farmers Market is a program of Main Street Siloam Springs.
