OKLAHOMA CITY — Senior Baily Cameron scored 10 points, but the John Brown University women’s basketball team struggled to find success in other places as conference-leading No. 12 Oklahoma City’s staunch defense led the Stars to a 79-33 victory inside Abe Lemons Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Cameron shot 3 of 8 from the field and grabbed six rebounds, but no other Golden Eagle was able to find double-digit scoring. Senior Karina Chandra contributed seven points and three steals in the loss.

The Golden Eagles (13-9, 9-6 Sooner Athletic) were held to season lows in points, shooting percentage (25 percent), field goals (11), assists (8), 3-pointers (4) and total rebounds (29).

Chandra’s triple gave JBU an early 3-2 lead, and another triple from junior Jordan Martin tied the game at six, but the Stars

(21-2, 14-1) ended the quarter on a 5-0 run that ballooned into a 17-point halftime lead.

Oklahoma City’s Abby Selzer tallied 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field and grabbed six boards. Taylor Sylvester also nabbed six caroms and dropped 14 points. Mallory Lockhart came off the bench to score nine of her 14 points in the second half.

The Stars have now won eight games in a row.

John Brown returned to action on Tuesday at Bacone in Muskogee, Okla. The Golden Eagles return home for a two-game homestand, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday with Wayland Baptist (Texas) and 2 p.m. Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State.
