Veterans Day Program

The Siloam Springs High School and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1674 is hosting a Veterans Day Program at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the high school, located at 700 N. Progress Ave. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Post office holiday food drive

The Siloam Springs Post Office is hosting its annual holiday food drive through Nov. 9. Nonperisha­ble items can be dropped off at the post office or left in mailboxes for carriers to pick up. The items collected will be donated to local food banks. No glass items please.

Lighting of City Park

West Siloam Springs, Okla., is hosting a Lighting of City Park event at 6 p.m.

Nov. 30. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting from the North Pole. Canaan Land Ministries will provide music for the event.

Free flu shot clinic scheduled for Nov. 7

Siloam Springs Family Medicine is offering a free flu vaccinatio­n clinic from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 7. Patients can walk-in or make an appointmen­t by calling 479-2153035. The clinic is located at 3721 E. Hwy. 412 and is open to anyone in the community ages 6 months and older.

Writers to meet Nov. 11

The Siloam Springs Writers Guild will meet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 11, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Linzey will share “Reflection­s on Writing Environmen­ts” with the group.

Assignment­s to be emailed to sswgsisp@gmail.com are: Prose — “Holiday Traditions,” and Poetry — “Harvest Time” or writer’s choice. All writers are welcome to attend. The church is located at 2000 Dawn Hill Road. Please enter on the west side of the building.

JBU art exhibit

John Brown University will host an art exhibit, titled The Calling of Lazarus — 60 Portraits, created specifical­ly for the university exhibition by artist Ross Wilson of Northern Ireland. The exhibit is located in the Windgate Visual Arts West Gallery and will be on display through Dec. 15.

Jazz at the Springs

Jazz at the Springs, a fundraiser for the Siloam Springs Center for the

Arts, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 16 at the 28 Springs Banquet Room. The event will include dinner at a show. Tickets are available at www.ssartcente­r.org.

Museum anniversar­y celebratio­n

The Siloam Springs Museum’s 50th anniversar­y celebratio­n will take place from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. An opening ceremony will begin at noon, followed by kids day at the museum, a mustang car show, museum tours and exhibits of Siloam Springs Schools and Sager Family Furniture.
