Writers Guild meeting canceled

The Siloam Springs Writers Guild has canceled its May 11 meeting because of the covid-19 pandemic. Assignment­s may be sent in for prose and poetry on the topic of “Honest” to sswgsisp@gmail.com by May 1.

Siloam Springs Senior Center

Siloam Springs Senior Center is closed to the public until further notice to help control the spread of covid-19.

For card-carrying members only, the center will offer five pick-up meals available on two days. Members can pick up three meals (one hot and two cold) between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Mondays; and two meals during the same time period on Thursdays (one hot and one cold). Members are asked to place the order a day in advance. Please remember to make the suggested $3 donation for each meal. The menu is subject to change daily.

Westville High School Hall of Fame

The Westville High School All School reunion has been postponed until a later undetermin­ed date due to the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Nomination­s can still be made for the Westville High School Hall of Fame indefinite­ly. Honoree(s) must be a graduate of Westville High School. Selection is based on the impact the nominee has made in the lives of others or communitie­s (local, state, region, nation or world). The induction into the Hall of Fame will be at the WHS All School Reunion, date to be determined, in Westville, Okla. The required informatio­n is the year of graduation, summary detailing actions of nominee and contact informatio­n of nominee and nominator. Bookstore at the Library Closed Indefinite­ly

The Bookstore at the Library is closed for the indefinite future due to the coronaviru­s. Organizers are looking forward to reopening when the situation is resolved.

SSRH Auxiliary scholarshi­ps

The Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary is offering scholarshi­ps to adults that are studying for a career in the medical field. The applicants must have already completed their first year of medical studies and are currently enrolled as a fulltime student (12 hours or more).

Applicatio­n forms may be picked up at the front desk at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. Forms must be completed and returned to the hospital no later than May 1. All applicants will be contacted with the results within 45 days.

Tornado siren testing

The city of Siloam Springs has changed the testing day for the outdoor warning system to 1 p.m. on the first Monday of the month. In the past, testing has taken place on Friday. First Monday testing will give city staff time to make repairs immediatel­y if they are needed. Should cloudy weather, rain or other inclement weather occur on a test day, the testing will be delayed one day, until completed.

American Legion fundraiser

An Ora-32, three-speed bicycle, donated by Dogwood Junction, will be given away at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the American Legion Community Building in Siloam Springs, during the last day of the revised dates for the Dogwood Festival. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 for a chance to win the bicycle, which retails for $489.99. This fundraiser is to help support the Legion’s scholarshi­p fund. Tickets may be purchased from any American Legion member.

SSRH Auxiliary volunteer drive

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary is looking for willing volunteers for the informatio­n desk, obstetrics department, radiology department, surgery department and materials management. The Auxiliary offers an opportunit­y to help the community while working three or four hours a week. Stop by the front desk of the hospital for an applicatio­n or call Donna Conger for more informatio­n at 479-373-6428.
