Evelyn Dean Lyons Nicewarner

Evelyn Dean Lyons Nicewarner, 88, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020.

She was born on March 17, 1932, in Freedom, Okla., to Amos Jasper Lyons and Vergie Ester Harvey Lyons. She married Warren B. Nicewarner. She was an LPN, having worked at the Fayettevil­le City Hospital, Washington General Hospital and in private nursing. She was a farmer who loved animals, especially horses, and was of the Christian faith.

She was the last of 10 children, having been preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; and one daughter, Neva Jane Beaver.

She is survived by one son, David Nicewarner and companion Teresa Elder of Elkins, Ark.; nine grandchild­ren ;19 great grandchild­ren; and three and a half great-great grandchild­ren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Outside potluck reception to follow services at the cemetery. Guests are requested to wear masks.

Katheryn ‘Kay’ Louise Syler

Katheryn “Kay” Louise Syler, 101-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, died on September 28, 2020, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab. Kay was born on February 18, 1919, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to R.C. Henry and Nellie Lou Mooney Henry. She graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1937. Kay married George Webb Syler on July 13, 1940. Kay’s family owned and operated R.C.Henry’s Hardware in downtown Siloam Springs, where Kay’s brothers, Ralph and Robert, and Kay’s husband George all worked. Prior to her marriage Kay and her sister Lucille worked in the furniture section of the store. Kay’s favorite role was being a wife and homemaker. She served as a member of the PTA and as a Cub Scout mother.

Her love of flowers led her to serve as a member of Siloam Springs Garden Club and as lifetime member of Primavera Garden Club, where she actively participat­ed in the beautifica­tion of Siloam Springs. Kay was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Kay always had pets and loved them all, many said they were the luckiest animals on earth.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, R.C. and Nellie Henry; three brothers: Bill Henry, Robert Henry, and Ralph Henry; and sister, Lucille Ingersoll.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Syler and wife Ginger of Beggs, Oklahoma, and Dr. Ron Syler and wife Vonda of Siloam Springs; four granddaugh­ters, Erica Syler of Fayettevil­le, Arkansas, Sheri Tooman of Purcell, Oklahoma, Karen Shields of Purcell, Oklahoma, and Lara Denning of Des Moines, Iowa; and eight great-grandchild­ren.

Juanita ‘J.J.’ Jean Tucker-Williams

Juanita “J.J.” Jean TuckerWill­iams, 40, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

She was born Dec. 24, 1979, in Gravette, Ark., to James Tucker and Theresa Hutchens-Duncan. On July 26, 2018, she married Shane Williams in Tulsa, Okla., and they made many loving memories together until her passing.

She, better known as J.J., was known for her sweet smile and big heart. She never had an unkind word for anyone and loved everyone, accepting them just as they were. This world is a better place having had her in it and she will be sorely missed!

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Greyson Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Shane Williams; two stepsons, Seth Austin and Billy Williams; her parents, Melvin and Theresa Duncan, and James and Deanna Tucker; a granddaugh­ter; two sisters, Martha JaNeen Langley and Jenny Tucker; two adopted sisters, Ashlee Bray and Toni Genisio; one brother, Mark Everett Lee Duncan; and two stepbrothe­rs, Brian Randol and Kenneth Goode.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, with the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. at the Colcord Community Center in Colcord, Okla., with Pastor Dwayne Driggers and Pastor Nathan Langley officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in West Siloam Springs, Okla.

Lawrence Davis Wood

Lawrence Davis Wood, 73, of Gentry, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 9,

2020, at Springdale Health and Rehab.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1946, in Gentry, the son of Anthony Davis Wood and Lola Mae Burns Foster Wood. He was a mechanic who enjoyed making things out of metal and wood. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam Era.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Grimm; and five brothers, Everett Foster, Clint Foster, Don Foster, Marvin Foster, and Charles Wood.

He is survived by one brother, Carl Wood and wife Sherry of Gentry; three sisters-in-law, Jeannie Foster of Gravette, Joan Foster of Texas and Maxine Foster of Gentry.

Graveside services were held at the Falling Springs Cemetery near Decatur on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, with the Rev. Joe Partain officiatin­g.
