Panthers finish fourth at state swim meet

The Siloam Springs boys swim team finished fourth overall at the Class 5A state meet held Friday and Saturday at the Russellvil­le Aquatic Center, while the Siloam Springs girls finished seventh overall.

Russellvil­le swept the state titles for boys and girls.

Boys

The Panthers did well in all three relays with two second place finishes and one third place.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Will Gryder, Owen Thomas, Javier

Chavez and Malachi Becan placed second at 1 minute, 48.02 seconds.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Gryder, Malachi Becan, Thomas and Chavez placed second at 1:36.52.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Thomas, Malachi Becan, Chavez and Gryder finished third at 3:34.88.

Owen Thomas placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.02.

Malachi Becan placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.80, while Will Gryder was eighth at 24.83 and Ezekiel Becan 14th at 26.30.

Chavez was seventh in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:04.32, while Ben Haak was 12th at 1:08.50.

Gabe Fox placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:52.37,

Ben Haak placed ninth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:06.30.

Ezekiel Becan placed second in the one-meter diving with a score of 272.35.

Girls

The 200-yard medley relay team of Rachel Luker, Emelyn Chavez, Kate Gryder and Jordan Rush finished fifth overall with a time of 2:17.52.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Gryder, Chavez, Luker and Rush placed sixth at 2:00.46.

Gryder placed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.64, while Chavez was sixth at 1:17.94.

Gryder placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststro­ke at 1:19.65.

Chavez placed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:49.04, while Luker was 13th at 2:59.60.

Luker placed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:18.33.

Jordan Rush finished third overall in the onemeter diving with a score of 284.80.
