At home with Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) on his Emmywinning night.
NY&R co-stars and real-life lovebirds Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy (Devon and Elena, both r.) hosted a small viewing party in their home for the virtual presentation of the Daytime Emmy Awards, and got to celebrate James’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actor with an intimate group of family and friends (all of whom had been tested for the coronavirus). “Those handful of friends were just people that we hang out with the most,” James notes. “They actually wanted to come and be a part of the celebration. It was a great night for them to be there.”

Sarpy’s former GH co-star Chloe Lanier (Nelle) was also on hand. “She’s a really great actress and an even better friend,” James says.
SAFE RIDE
Sarpy’s mother, Kim (far l.), and grandmother Jerelee were visiting from Las Vegas. “They took a bus called a Lux Bus; it’s one of those Mercedes Sprinters, which we thought would be safer than flying,” Sarpy explains.
JUST THE THREE OF US
Sarpy’s BFF, actress Alexxis Lemire, has stayed close to the couple during California’s stay-at-home orders. “We kind of quarantined together,” Sarpy shares.

James spent part of his evening Zooming with some of his Y&R castmates, including fellow winner Jason Thompson (Billy), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) and Peter Bergman (Jack). “It was so nice to share the moment with them,” he enthuses.
ALL TOGETHER NOW
Pandemonium erupted when James’s name was announced. “We didn’t even hear his acceptance speech,” Sarpy smiles. “We were all screaming at the top of our lungs. We were so excited!”
HAPPY TEARS
Seconds after his victory, James Facetimed with co-star Christel Khalil (Lily), who was at her home in Canada. “She started crying and she got real embarrassed about it,” he chuckles. “I took pictures of her crying, but she’d kill me if I shared them!”
UP IN ARMS
Lanier’s boyfriend, Kevan Mcclellan, gave the winner a congratulatory pick-me-up. “It was all overwhelming,” marvels James of the evening.
