I don’t tear up easily during soaps, but I will say Y&R’S Christel

Khalil (Lily) broke me last year during the on-screen funeral for the late Kristoff St. John’s Neil. In the Roundup on page 36, we asked stars to name that soaps’ best criers. Here, the editors share the scenes brought them to tears:

Stella Bednarz: “On GH in 1994, after Maxie got so B.J.’S heart, Tony gently laid his head on Maxie’s chest years he could hear his daughter’s heart beating. All these later, it still gets to me.”

Janet Di Lauro: “The entire DAYS episode where Bo start and Hope had to give up J.T. It was a tearjerker from to finish and was even sponsored by Kleenex.”

Michael Karol: “On ALL MY CHILDREN, when Erica Mona Kane died. After the funeral, lying in bed, when spoke to Mona’s picture and said she was lost, I lost it. What could’ve been a soap trope was incredibly moving for me.”

Mara Levinsky: “So many! But the ones that spring TO to mind right away are Megan’s death on ONE LIFE final LIVE, Stone’s death on GH and Tad’s speech on the episode on AMC.”

Devin Owens: “When Iva told Lily that she was Lily’s The birth mother on AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1987. scene was capped off by Lily rejecting Iva. Ms. Snyder broke down in tortured sobs and so did I!”

Tom Stacy: “It was 2007. I was sick with the flu, and GH textkilled off Georgie Jones, who was strangled to death in its message serial killer storyline — one week before Christmas! Need I say more?”
