Supreme Court decisions have not obeyed God’s word

-

To the Editor:

If any one of us would take a half-hour or so to actually read the Constitution, you would see that the founders said more about the legislative and the executive branches than they did about the judicial branch.

The founders never envisioned the day, nor would they have agreed with it, that we would effectively be ruled by nine justices sitting on the Supreme Court.

The court is shaped in two ways: by the president (who nominates the Judges) and by the U.S. Senate (which confirms them).

The president’s longest-lasting impact may be on the Supreme Court, where he added two activists, who, due to their relatively young age, pose a major threat to the sanctity of life, traditional marriage and religious freedom for many years to come.

Therefore, we cannot and must not allow Barack Obama to be allowed another four more years in the White House to be able to appoint any more liberal activist judges to the Supreme Court. We can be sure there will be a couple of judges leaving the bench due to age and health problems in the next four years.

Every year around this time of the year, it seems we have to wait for the Supreme Court to determine what is or is not constitutional. Many of these decisions are hotly contested. Some of them boil down to one key swing vote.

As of this writing, Anthony Kennedy is that swing vote. He has certainly disappointed conservatives with key decisions in favor of abortion and homosexuality.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 14:34 that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Too often the courts have effectively enshrined into law principles that promote sin and shackle righteousness. Consider what the courts have usered in:

Pornography on demand (1957-1973). This has had a devastating impact on marriages and families.

No school prayer allowed (1962-1963). This has helped to remove the fear of God from the classroom, although the Bible says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10.

No official Bible reading of a devotional nature in schools (1963). The Bible is the book that made America. It helped create the foundation of our nation.

Abortion on demand, through Roe v. Wade (1973). Meanwhile, as of this writing, more than 56 million Americans have been killed through abortion because of this one decision by seven men.

No Ten Commandments can be posted in the schools (1980). This decision could not be more clear. The schools cannot allow God’s law to be seen. Tragically, violence has increased, teen pregnancy exploded and scholastic achievement has declined dramatically since God has been unwelcome in the classrooms of America.

States are not free to prohibit the Grant of Legal Rights to homosexuals (1996). This goes against what the Bible says on this issue. Please read Romans 1:26-28 and get the answer to what God tells us on this issue of homosexuality. Which president said that God wouldn’t bless the nation unless it obeys his rules: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson or James Madison? The answer is George Washington, our first president. He said this when he gave his first inaugural address in New York City, April 30, 1789, just before leading everyone to a worship service at St. Paul’s Chapel (which is still standing today), where they dedicated the new nation to God.

The blessings of God can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which God himself has ordained. In other words, God won’t be pleased with us unless we obey him. How do we obey him? By obeying his word. Claude Mininger
