Three Poineers earn All-state honors

Megan Bolton, Holly Seiz and Keli Krause, the trio of players so instrument­al in Christophe­r Dock’s run to WKH VWDWH TuDUWHUfin­DOV WKLV past spring, received some statewide recognitio­n.

BoOWon, WKH fiUVW EDVHPDn, and Seiz, the shortstop, were named First Team All-State in Class AA and Krause earned a spot on the Second Team as all three seniors capped their high school careers in impressive fashion.

“Holly was an incredible player from Day One,” said Dock coach Wayne Benner, who guided the Pioneers to the state playoffs in each of the past three seasons. “Her YHUy fiUVW JDPH DW DoFN, VKH hits a grand slam.

“Megan played every game since her freshman year. She played more games for Dock than anyone. Megan does not play summer ball, so to play at this kind of level is pretty incredible. And with Keli, well (a team’s successF all starts with pitching. Along with (catcherF Aly Shilling, those four were pretty much the core of the team. It was a real pleasure to have this group of girls.”

All three all-staters will continue their athletic careers on the college level, as Seiz plans to walk on at Liberty University and Krause heads to Elizabetht­own. Bolton will SODy fiHOG KoFNHy DW (DVWHUn University, and also, Shilling will play softball at the University of New Haven.

Seiz’s consistenc­y and power with the bat was quite evident in the Pioneers’ opening-round state playoff win over Philadelph­ia Academy Charter, where the leadoff hitter went 3-for-3 with a home run, triple, and double along ZLWK WKUHH UunV DnG IouU 5B,.

BoOWon ZDV D UoFN DW fiUVW base, a solid two-way standout who played in 95 straight games for the Pioneers.

And Krause pitched the Pioneers to three consecutiv­e District One titles and a 51-15 record over her three years as Dock’s ace right-hander. During that span, the Pioneers reached the state quarters in 2009, the state semis in 2010, and again the state quarters in 2011, losing a tough 2-1 deciVLon Wo WDUULoU 5un.

“We had hoped to get a little further. The team’s goal ZDV Wo JHW Wo WKH finDO,” BHnner said. “We played a very tough schedule, and did very well at it. (Being namedF allstate is a very nice way for WKHVH JLUOV Wo finLVK LW uS.”

Other locals honored were Central Bucks West’s Cassie wanolini, a senior outfielder who was named to the Class AAAA First Team; North Penn’s Michele Holweger, a junior second baseman who made the Class AAAA Second Team, and Jess Mower, a senior catcher who was Honorable Mention in Class AAAA. Lansdale Catholic’s Mary Cate Scott, a senior pitcher earned Honorable Mention in ClassAA.
