It was a successful showing for all eight Bux-Mont League teams at Thursday evening’s B Championships, held on a perfect night for swimming at the Nor-Gwyn Aquatic Club.

After waiting 24 hours because the event was postponed due to rain on Wednesday, those competing put forth some tremendous efforts in both the individual races and in the relays.

“Things are going really well — the kids have been dropping times at the B Championships and at WhH C’V. (YHryERGy’V finishing the year with their best times,” said a happy Carolyn Dwyer, coach of HDWfiHOG. “, WhLnN WhH NLGV really enjoy the (postseason meets). It gives them something to look forward to and something to work for. And it gives them a different focus, especiall at C’s and B’s, where you can really swim meets where you are the fastest kid and you can be the B Champ champ. You’re the fastest kid in this meet, in this pool tonight.”

It was a particularly strong nLJhW IRr HDWfiHOG’V SHDn GrHYer, a rising sophomore at North Penn who won both the Senior 100-PHWHr EuWWHrfly DnG WhH 100 breast. The 15-year-old also placed third in the 100 free.

A wLn Ln WhH fly LVn’W EDG either. The youngster looks to focus on the 50 free, 100 breast and 100 free this coming season at North Penn.

”I want to at least make districts,” he said.

Grever now gets some time off, but in a week it’s right into water polo season.

Another young standout displayed his versatility Thursday night, as Towamencin’s Michael Collins wRn WhH 13-14 50 fly DnG also the 100 free. The Dolphins went on to win 10 events at the meet.

Harleysville, which was fastest in 11 different races, wrapped things up nicely by swimming a time of 2 minutes, 34.78 seconds in the girls 200 medley relay, as a team of Caroline Mertz, Cameron O’Donnell, Crystal Armstrong and Julia Waskiewicz took top honors.

Along with some great times in the pool, the event was blessed with a tremendous turnout and fan support. “That’s why summer swimming is really great, because it is very family oriented, and it’s all about bringing kids into it,” Dwyer said. “We have so many sets of siblings, and the parents are always chipping in. It’s like one, big, huge community.”
