Greenline returns under new company ownership and with a new 36 Hybrid.

- — Chris Landry

After nearly two years of inactivity, Greenline has returned with a new boat and new ownership. Vladimir Zinchenko, owner and CEO of SVP Yachts in Slovenia, says the 36 Hybrid — along with other new Greenline models — will be faster under diesel power.

The standard engine is a 220-hp Volvo Penta diesel. An optional 370-hp Yanmar diesel gives her a top speed of 25 knots. An electric motor pushes the coupe at 6.5 knots. “You can enjoy quiet time while being kind to the environment,” Zinchenko says.

“Many of our customers will be boaters who are retired and appreciate not just the destination, but the journey,” says Zinchenko, who was a Greenline dealer under the former owner, Seaway of Slovenia. “People are much more comfortable with hybrid technology today. They love the environmentally friendly aspect.” The 36 Hybrid has two staterooms and a head, and the deckhouse includes a port-side galley that’s open to the cockpit. An electric transom gate folds out to enlarge the cockpit and serves as a boarding/swim platform.

Greenline also has resumed production of the boats it built under the previous owner: the 33, 40 and 48. In addition to the 36, the builder is working on a 44, which Zinchenko expects to launch in January 2018. Stressing quality, he says the new company will build fewer boats a year — just under 100 — compared with the previous owner. SVP Yachts opened its distribution headquarters in Florida to import, sell and service the boats. The 36 Hybrid with standard power is $ 263,840; it’s $ 286,380 with the optional Yanmar.
