Carver C34 Coupe

-

The new C34 Coupe is the smallest of Carver’s sport cruisers and flybridge yachts. Introduced at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November, the boat takes design cues from its sister ships, including a nearly plumb bow, opening ports and fixed glass panels in the hull sides, a swept-back cabin house profile and a cockpit with swim platform.

The C34 rides a vacuuminfused modified-vee hull. The hull and deck carry a 10-year warranty.

The minimalistic interior has dark wood paneling and cabin soles, and white upholstery. The master stateroom forward has a berth with stowage beneath, hull-side shelves, a hanging locker to port and a flat- screen television. Hullside glass with opening ports and an overhead hatch open the area to the outside.

The guest stateroom is amidships, abaft the companionway steps. Its L-shaped lounge con- verts to a berth. The staterooms share an enclosed head/shower to port, abaft the master.

Glass surrounds the saloon, and a power sunroof adds to the airy feel. The starboard helm sits abaft a single-pane windshield that provides good visibility. The saloon and cockpit form a single-level indoor-outdoor space when the aft doors are open. The galley is to starboard abaft the helm, so it’s close to the cockpit when entertaining. A dinette is to port.

Standard power is a pair of 250-hp MerCruiser 4.5-liter gas Bravo 3 sterndrives; 300- hp MerCruiser 6.2-liter gas sterndrives are optional. Top speed with optional power is 35.35 knots, with a fuel burn of 45.55 gph. Carver’s testing shows an ideal cruising speed of 24.1 knots, using 24.7 gph. The boat also can be powered with 350hp MerCruiser gas sterndrives, 260-hp MerCruiser diesel sterndrives or 335- hp MerCruiser diesel sterndrives.
