ARCHITECT LISTS $8M BEACH HOUSE

Waterfront property features glass walls, terraces, sunset views

Kobi Karp, one of South Florida’s most prolific architects and the founder of Miamibased Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design, has listed his waterfront home in Miami Beach for just under $8 million.

Located at 6530 Allison Road, the 4,842-square-foot gated property, which was built in 1952, has four bedrooms and four and onehalf baths.

It sits on a 21,600-square-foot lot with 100 feet of water frontage. The property faces west, affording residents sunset views.

The home is on Allison Island, a gated island that offers residents proximity to Bal Harbour and South Beach along with privacy, said Cyril Matz, an executive director of luxury sales for Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Miami, who holds the listing with colleague Dina Goldentayer.

“Allison Island used to be under the radar, but now everybody knows about it,” Matz said. “It’s a beautiful island.”

Karp and his wife Nancy purchased the home in December 2012 for $3.5 million.

They are selling because they purchased another home, Matz said.

Karp has designed over $36 billion of mixed-use commercial, residential and multifamily properties worldwide, including multiple projects in South Florida, such as Palazzo Del Sol on Fisher Island and the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Fort Lauderdale.

He’s including with the sale design plans for a 10,000-square-foot, ultra-modern new home for the property. It features glass walls, terraces and ample outdoor space surrounding the pool.

“There could be two types of buyers for this property,” Matz said. “There’s the buyer who will keep it as is and the buyer who knocks it down and builds a 10,000-square-foot home.”
