Oceanfront estate ready for big- league buyer at $19.995M
The house was formerly owned by baseball player Sammy Sosa
A 9,522-square-foot oceanfront estate in Golden Beach that was formerly owned by professional baseball player Sammy Sosa is now ready for a big-league buyer.
Originally built in 1998 but fully renovated, the property has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a massive chef ’s kitchen, an open-concept contemporary floor plan, a spiral staircase, elevator, home theater and a pool overlooking the ocean. The 0.57acre lot has 75 feet of direct ocean frontage.
The two-story gated home, at 667 Ocean Blvd., is listed for $19.995 million.
The Town of Golden Beach is the northernmost oceanfront municipality in Miami-Dade County. It’s bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Hallandale Beach to the north and Sunny Isles Beach to the south.
“Golden Beach is an exclusive place,” said Jared Ringel, a real estate agent with Compass Florida in Boca Raton, who holds the listing with colleagues Chris Franciosa and Lisa Valko. “The entire town is about a mile from north to south, and most of the single-family homes are oceanfront.”
The current owner of the property is Scott Scharg, who purchased it in December 2018 for $10.62 million. Scharg is a hair industry executive and one of the founders of It’s a 10 Haircare.
Ringel said he’s selling because he plans to move to a condominium.
Sosa, who owned the home from 2013 to 2016, is a native of the Dominican Republic who began his career in 1989 and played for 18 seasons, most of them as a right fielder for the Chicago Cubs, before retiring in 2007. He is one of nine players in Major League Baseball history to hit 600 career home runs.
