Really? You put grandma at risk for The Wharf?

- Robert S. Newman, Boca Raton

I am a Boston area photographer who has done annual work in Florida since 2001. I was outraged to see photos in your newspaper this past weekend of Fort Lauderdale bargoers without masks in dense crowds. [“‘It’s frightening. It’s insane’: Fort Lauderdale bars packed with mask-less partygoers,” Nov. 22] Events like these will only lead to spreading the disease, and the resultant increase in deaths.

I had hoped to return this winter, but can’t consider it given the dangers. I understand that businesses (like my own) are trying to survive, but there is a pattern here: One reckless step forward for normalcy is followed by two steps backward, resulting in a continuous, downward trend.

We all need to act responsibly if we want the economy and the health of the community to stabilize as soon as possible. I doubt Florida can afford to turn away any more visitors.

Get lost, Trump

In spite of overwhelming voter rejection of the incumbent president and his policies, he continues to say that he won the election.

Adding to these lies, his Secretary of State Pompeo states that “there will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration” and has to date thwarted all efforts to transition pertinent data to the incoming administration.

If these comments were made by one dictator and his hirelings as another dictator took over, they would be considered treasonous, and lead to long jail terms or death.

Fortunately for these individuals, the new administration coming in with Joe Biden is not a dictatorship but democratically elected, and Biden has stated on many occasions that he will be a president of all Americans, not just the ones that voted for him.

Now is the time for all Americans to get behind Biden and help him fight the deadly virus confronting our country as well as other challenges he will be facing here and overseas.
