Offering up a handful of offseason tips

Here are 10 things for Dolphins to consider before 2021 campaign

-

With two months until the 2021 NFL draft, it’s unclear how a potential trade for star quarterback Deshaun Watson would unfold — and particularly if the Miami Dolphins are involved. Watson has reiterated his desire to leave the Houston Texans to team officials, while they have countered publicly by saying they won’t trade the budding, 25-yearold star entering his prime.

The Texans would likely yield greater value from a Watson trade before the draft, which the Dolphins could be major players in with the third overall pick among their four in the first 50 selections.

A Dolphins trade for Watson likely results in Miami parting with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after a season and multiple draft picks, but there is still a significant amount of time the Dolphins must navigate this offseason before any decisions are made regarding the franchise’s future.

Here are 10 tips the the Dolphins should consider this offseason:

The Dolphins may already have a trade package in mind for Watson, but his ultimate trade price may be higher than what the Dolphins may want to give up. A Watson trade could exceed four draft picks and even reach upward of seven total picks, which Miami would benefit greatly from keeping.

Despite Watson’s brilliance, I don’t see the Dolphins getting into a bidding war for him. The Dolphins should keep their picks and make the most out of them with Tagovailoa as their quarterback.
