A look at what’s open or closed for Labor Day in South Florida

Here’s what will be open and closed in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties on Monday.

South Florida

„ ■ Federal offices and banks will be closed.

„ ■ Post offices are closed and there will be no regular mail delivery.

„ ■ Stock Markets: The NYSE, Nasdaq and Bond Markets are closed.

Retail

Most drug store and food retail locations are open, but many of their pharmacy operations will be closed. Some exceptions, such as 24-hour locations, exist. Call your preferred location in advance. Some of the primary retailers:

„ ■ Walgreens pharmacy: Most pharmacy locations will be closed. The pharmacy at the 24-hour Walgreen’s, 21880 FL-7, Boca Raton, will be open. 561-470-0647.

„ ■ CVS pharmacy: Most pharmacy locations will be closed. The pharmacy at the 24-hour CVS, 1150 NE 26 St., Wilton Manors, will be open. 954-566-7474.

„ Publix pharmacies will be closed.

Broward County

For services in specific cities and towns, please contact the city office directly.

Government/ Schools

„ ■ Public schools are closed and most colleges and universiti­es will be closed.

„ ■ The 17th Judicial and Circuit and County Courts and the Administra­tive Office of the Courts will be closed.

Services

„ ■ Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed. In the event of animal attack or bite, call 911. For lost or found cats or dogs, call 954-359-1313, ext. 9273.

„ ■ The Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, will be closed.

„ ■ Florida Department of Health in Broward County: All DOH-Broward vaccinatio­n sites will be closed. Four DOH-Broward testing sites will remain open: CB Smith Park, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Tradewinds Park. 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Mills Pond Park 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Plantation Heritage Park for K-12 students only from 8 a.m-4::30 p.m.

„ ■ Garbage, bulk and recycling will be collected as regularly scheduled. Residents of all other Broward municipali­ties should contact their city or hauler directly for scheduling informatio­n.

Entertainm­ent

„ ■ All branches of the county library system will be closed, with one exception: NSU-Alvin Sherman Library will remain open.

„ ■ Broward County regional and neighborho­od parks, and natural areas will be open with the exception of Deerfield Island Park and the Markham Park Target Range, which will be closed per normal operating schedule.

Transporta­tion

„ Broward County Transit will operate on a Sundayholi­day schedule and return to a modified service schedule on Tuesday. There will be no Express or Breeze Bus service. Staff will be available from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Broward Main Terminal, 101 NW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale, at the Lauderhill Transit Center, 1359 NW 40th Ave., Lauderhill, and at the Northeast Transit Center, 304 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Pompano Beach. Palm Beach County

„ ■ There is regularly scheduled trash pick-up in the county. Residents of all municipali­ties should contact their city or hauler directly for scheduling informatio­n.

Entertainm­ent

„■ All branches of the county library system will be closed.

„ ■ Parks and natural areas will be open.

Transporta­tion

■„ Palm Tran: Bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule; administra­tive offices will be closed.

Miami-Dade County
