Noteworthy: The Dolphins also started last season 1-3, and a win at the San Francisco 49ers sparked a run of five consecutive victories. It led the Dolphins to a 10-6 record, finishing one game short of the playoffs in 2020. ... Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, fresh off his seventh Super Bowl title, faces the Dolphins for the first time since his final regular-season game as a Patriot in December of 2019 after what used to be a twice-annual series in the AFC East. In 35 games against Miami, Brady is 23-12 — the 12 losses the most he has against any opponent — with 67 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. ... The Dolphins are expected to activate nose tackle Raekwon Davis off injured reserve, which should help a run defense ranked 27th in the NFL. Miami had both starting cornerbacks — Xavien Howard and Byron Jones — limited in practice earlier this past week, but the tandem is expected to play against a Tampa receiving corps led by Antonio Brown, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
