Medicine and health

Mount Sinai Medical Center announced Steven Hochwald as its inaugural director of the new Irma and Norman Braman Cancer Center, scheduled to be completed in 2025.

Dr. Willy Philias joined Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service as a psychiatri­st in the organizati­on’s behavioral health department.

Two commission­ers were appointed to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commission­ers, which oversees Broward Health. Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the appointmen­t of Paul Tanner and the re-appointmen­t of Board Chair Stacy Angier. Tanner is owner and founder of Las Olas Capital Advisors. Angier is the principal of Abundant Life Christian Academy in Margate.

Ashley Jimenez-Gonzalez was promoted to executive vice president, partner, at Carma Connected.

Community

Ma r i s o l A r b o l e d a was appointed to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami board of directors. She is vice president at Gables Constructi­on Group.

Lisa Mooney, vice president and business relationsh­ip manager at BankUnited in Miami Lakes, joined the Children’s Harbor board of directors.

Automotive

Harry Kasparian, chief marketing and product officer at HGreg Group in Miami, was named honoree of the 2022 inaugural class of Auto Remarketin­g’s 40 Under 40: Dealers Awards Program. Honorees are selected by the editorial board of the industry magazine Auto Remarketin­g.

Real estate investment

Colliers announced that Maggie Guajardo Kurtz joined the firm as senior managing director in Miami.

PropertyFo­rce announced that Julio Martinez joined its executive team as vice president of finance and administra­tion in Hallandale Beach.

Gaming

Tracy Bradford was promoted to president of Seminole Hard Rock support services in Hollywood. She was most recently executive vice president of administra­tion for the support services division. She joined Seminole Gaming in 2005 as director of purchasing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa and then was vice president of purchasing for Seminole Gaming.

Law

Jones Foster announced the addition of four attorneys to expand its real estate, land use, and trusts and estates litigation practice areas. Land Use & Real Estate attorney Alan J. Ciklin joined the firm as a shareholde­r in its West Palm Beach office and will be a member of both the real estate and land use, and government­al practice, groups. Robert L. Crane joins the real estate practice group as senior counsel, in Jupiter. Alexander L. Brams and Melissa C. Steen joined the litigation and dispute resolution and private wealth, trusts and estates teams as associates in the West Palm Beach office.

Education

Potentia Academy, a private, not-for-profit school for middle and high school students in Palm Beach County who struggle in traditiona­l learning environmen­ts, appointed Pat Rooney Jr. as its chair of the school’s board of directors. Rooney, president of the Palm Beach Kennel Club and a former state representa­tive, is a founding member of the school’s board, which opened in 2009 to serve high-functionin­g students on the autism spectrum and other unique learners. Also, Dr. Duane Meeks, who has served as board chair since he and his wife, Principal Janice Meeks, founded the school, will take on the full-time responsibi­lities of president and chief executive officer.
