-

Leona “Lee” (nee Abramowitz) Jacobson, wife, mother and friend to many, passed away in her sleep at her Delray Beach home, November 15, 2018.

Lee was born September 28, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Anna (nee Roben) and Max Abramowitz. Along with her older brother, she grew up in the historic 1930s and felt the home impact of WWII. Soon after graduating high school she met her future husband while in line for a movie and married in 1953.

Lee was a patient, practical and proud mother of three sons. In 1971, Lee and her family left Brooklyn and headed east to Long Island into a new home. She retired young to chase the sun with her husband by moving to Delray Beach in 1989.

Lee had a penchant for game playing, newspapers, political talk, socializing with her friends and the color purple. She was a finely skilled knitter and needlepoint artist and produced scores of works for her home and her children’s homes. Lee played tennis, read to elementary school children and loved putting on her finest for an evening out.

Surviving Lee is her devoted husband of 65 years, Morris Jacobson; three loving sons, Robert (Sudbury, MA), Steve (Farmingdale, NY) and Mark (Pompano Beach, FL); special daughters-in-law Victoria, Debbie and Rita; faithful brother Irwin (Adele) Bromley of Jupiter, FL; and cherished grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, Valerie, Kathryn, Emily and Lilly.

A funeral service for Lee will take place November 20 at Rubin Memorial Chapel, 7340 Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, 10:00AM with burial immediately following. A celebration of her life continues at one of Lee’s fun and favorite restaurants, Lucille’s Bad to the Bone, 9173 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33446. Donations to Lee’s memory can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (for Parkinson’s Research) P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, or online at michaeljfox.org.
