TripAdvisor says best Florida restaurants live in Miami Beach
best restaurants in Florida live on a little-known barrier island called Miami Beach, if you believe TripAdvisor’s just-announced rankings of its top eateries in the United States.
The state notched eight winners this year and five are in Miami Beach as part of the travel website’s annual Travelers’ Choice Restaurant Awards rankings.
The rankings, judged by TripAdvisor users, recognize restaurants in three categories: Fine Dining, Everyday Dining and Fast Casual. Pane & Vino, an unassuming rustic Italian restaurant best known for homemade pasta, earned a No. 1 ranking for Everyday Dining.
Not far behind Pane & Vino is the old-school, Art Deco-splashed 11th Street Diner, which came in at No. 4 for Everyday Dining. Key West’s iconic Blue Heaven, serving up breakfast along with free-roaming roosters, ranked No. 10.
Only one South Florida eatery ranked within the top 10 in TripAdvisor’s fine-dining category: The Bazaar by José Andrés, the acclaimed chef’s shimmering Spanish restaurant inside SLS South Beach, ranked No. 10, followed by Cantonese restaurant Hakkasan at No. 14.
Miami Beach appears again in the fast-casual category, with Shake Shack awarded No. 2.
None of these rankings are surprising. South Beach stands as a tourism mecca and travel webThe
sites constantly overlook South Florida’s less-glamorous cities in rankings. Major
foodie hubs including Chicago, New York City and San Francisco also earned top marks on TripAdvisor’s list but smaller towns were largely ignored. Which invites the question: Do TripAdvisor
reviewers ever visit towns that lack tourism magnets? Perhaps not.
