BluGlacier, one of Chile’s salmon importers to the U.S., announced the appointment of Evelyn Torres as its chief marketing officer, headquartered in Miami. Torres has worked for companies like Deloitte, Nielsen and Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Medical
Larry Bush is the 2020 president of the Palm Beach County Medical Society. Bush has practiced the specialized field of Infectious Diseases in Palm Beach County since 1989. He holds the academic positions of affiliated professors of medicine at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University as Bush well as affiliated associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine.
Interior design, architecture
Guiliana Carhuamaca joined the team of interior designers at the Clive Daniel Home fine furnishings showroom in Boca Raton. In the past, Carhuamaca worked with Royalty Design in Palm Beach Gardens, Jack Philips Design of Palm Beach and Décor & More Interiors in Jupiter.
Alan David Cohen was named creative director of Design House, in Miami. The move is a result of a merger with his company, Alan David Design, with the team of his now business partner Janine Geller ,at Design House.
Aida Sanchez-Gomez joined the design and engineering firm Stantec as senior architect in its Miami office.
Marketing
Marketing agency holding company Stadiumred Group appointed Michael Abitebol as group chief operating officer in Miami. Previously, Abitebol was chief operating officer and chief financial officer at a New York Single Family Office and Asset Manager for over seven years. Prior to that, he spent over nine years at one of Europe’s financial services groups, Societe Generale, as chief operating officer of the Commodity Markets Group in New York.
Finance
Cliff Weisnerh was named a principal at Lee & Associates South Florida, in Miami. He was previously a senior associate with Tiktin Real Estate Investment Services.
Retail mortgage lender, Guaranteed Rate, opened a new branch in Coral Springs, and Michal Bander is branch manager. Also based at the branch are Marc Bristol, Jeremy Horner, Weisnerh Tammy Venter, Martine Lebel and Devin Brown as vice presidents of mortgage lending.
Heritage Financial Consultants LLC announced that Jeffrey Marchitto, former associate director at Oppenheimer & Co., joined its Miami office as a private wealth adviser.
Local estate planning professionals committed to the Jewish community’s future will celebrate their 2020 Honoree, Marjorie A. Horwin, CPA, at the annual Irving Eckhardt Mitzvah Society Cocktail Reception on Feb. 19. Horwin is the managing principal of the MBAF office serving Palm
Beach County, and principal-in-charge of its Private Wealth Services group.
Paola Colmenares was named tax manager at Ravan + Blanco CPAs. She was previously a senior staff accountant at Ravan and Co. prior to the firm’s recent merger, now named Ravan + Blanco CPAs, in Miami.
Education
Miami Dade College’s executive vice president and provost, Dr. Lenore Rodicio, was named vice chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Upon completion of her term as vice chair, she becomes chair of the board of directors. Rodicio joined the college in 2001 as an adjunct instructor of chemistry at the Kendall and Padrón campuses, and since then has held a number of positions at the college including associate professor, chair of Natural and Social Sciences, dean of Academic Affairs, vice provost for Student Achievement, and provost of Academic and Student Affairs.
Law
Kelley Kronenberg has partnered with Talenfeld Law and The JG Firm to create the Justice for Kids Division, with the focus on abused, disabled and catastrophically injured children, in Fort Lauderdale There are three partners/co-business unit leaders for the Justice for Kids Division, including Howard Talenfeld, Stacie Schmerling and Justin Grosz. The Justice for Kids Division will collaborate with all of Kelley Kronenberg’s offices in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Miami Lakes, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Chicago, including the addition of an office in Daytona Beach.
Dane Leitner, an attorney at Ward Damon,
was named equity partner at the West Palm Beach-based firm. Leitner, who joined Ward Damon in 2012 and was named a partner in 2018.
Ashley Ackerman joined Yaffa & Associates as an associate in Boca Raton. In her eight years in the state attorney’s office for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Ackerman handled over 60 jury trials. Also, she received the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Special Commendation Medal for her work on the Sober Homes Task Force.
GrayRobinson, P.A. announced that Rebecca A. Rodriguez, Of Counsel in GrayRobinson’s Fort Lauderdale and Miami law firm offices, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Service of Broward County for the 2020-2021 term.
