Hayes, a second-year playerwho is in his second season with the Dolphins, had previously played inMiami’s 31-23winover theJacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 24 but hadn’t contributed since.
Hispresence will likelycompensate for the absenceofJamalPerry, a reserve cornerback and key specialteamscontributor sidelined by a foot injury thisweek.
Jones, anundrafted rookie from Ole Miss, is active for his second game this season. He was previously active for Miami’s 24-0 win over the NewYork Jets onOct. 18.
The Dolphins are thin at defensive tackle because Davon Godchaux suffered a season-ending biceps injury earlier this month, and Raekwon Davis, the rookie Miami selected in the second-round of the 2020 NFL draft, is nursing a shoulder injury he suffered against the Jets.
While Davis has practiced all week without limitations and expects to play, the Dolphins are making sure they have enough reserves to make it through Sunday’s game against the Rams.
Teams are allowed to promote oneortwoplayers fromtheir practicesquadsto increase their rosters from 53 players to 55 players on game days. Any practice squad player promoted in such a way would revert back to the practice squad roster after the game.
Whena practice squad player is promoted to the active roster for a game, his weekly salary will be adjusted to 1⁄17 of the minimum annual salary for players with his number of accrued seasons.
