One charged in deadly shooting of innocent bystander at Dania Beach bar

DANIA BEACH — One man faces charges and a second arrest may be near in a shooting that left an innocent bystander dead in Dania Beach.

Jose Omar Soltren-Echevarria, 24, of Davie, was arrested Thursday following a shooting in a Dania Beach bar on Nov. 4 that killed Marissa Harris, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Harris, 32, was visiting from Ocala. She was caught in the crossfire at Rookie’s Ale House, at 3325 Griffin Rd., where two men were arguing and shots were fired, investigat­ors said.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue pronounced Harris dead at the scene about 3 a.m.

Soltren-Echevarria is charged with manslaught­er, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is being held in the Broward County Jail on bonds totaling $166,000, records show.

The Broward Sheriff ’s Office indicated detectives know who the second suspect is but they were not disclosing his name.
