Harbor Beach estate includes space for several megayachts

Homebuyers looking for new digs with plenty of space — for themselves and their boats — should take a look at a 19,463-square-foot Harbor Beach estate with frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway and sweeping water views.

The gated two-story Mediterranean home, at 1235 E. Lake Drive in Fort Lauderdale, sits on over one acre.

It has 10 bedrooms, 14 baths, a rooftop terrace, an infinity-edged pool, outdoor kitchen, theater, gym, massage room, elevator, 1,000-bottle wine cellar, guest house and dual garages with space for 10 cars.

It’s currently listed for $15.9 million. “You’re not going to find anything of this size on over an acre at this price point,” said Howard Elfman, a real estate broker with The Agency Florida in Fort Lauderdale, who holds the listing with colleague Steve McAleer. “It’s rare to find something with this much space and this much privacy.”

Additional interior features include doubleheight ceilings, formal living and dining rooms, Grecian-style columns, wrought-iron detailing and a chef ’s kitchen.

Built in 2002, the estate also has 359 linear feet of deep-water frontage and a private dock with enough space for multiple megayachts.

The current owner of the property is a Delaware-based limited liability company that purchased it in September 2009 for $9.45 million.

Elfman declined to say more about the identity of the owner, except that he or she is a business executive who owns multiple properties in the area.

Elfman believes that the most likely buyer of the estate will be someone who intends to use it as a primary residence, rather than a vacation home.

“Our typical buyers had traditionally been New Yorkers coming down south, but we’ve been seeing more buyers from California who are purchasing for tax reasons,” he said. “The last three showings were from California – one was a movie producer and one was a CEO, and they’re looking to come here to have Florida as their homesteaded residence.”
