South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Sunday)
Really? You put grandma at risk for The Wharf ?
I am a Boston area photographer who has done annual work in Florida since 2001. I was outraged to see photos in your newspaper this past weekend of Fort Lauderdale bargoers without masks in dense crowds. [“‘It’s frightening. It’s insane’: Fort Lauderdale bars packed with mask-less partygoers,” Nov. 22] Events like these will only lead to spreading the disease, and the resultant increase in deaths.
I had hoped to return this winter, but can’t consider it given the dangers. I understand that businesses (like my own) are trying to survive, but there is a pattern here: One reckless step forward for normalcy is followed by two steps backward, resulting in a continuous, downward trend.
We all need to act responsibly if we want the economy and the health of the community to stabilize as soon as possible. I doubt Florida can afford to turn away any more visitors.
