DeSantis video touts ‘historic week’ for COVID-19 fight
Gov. Ron DeSantis released Friday a video highlighting what he called a “historic week” in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Inthenearlyfour-minute video, the governor talks about the first vaccinations giventohealthcareworkers andelderlypatientsatnursinghomes.
He repeated his prediction that a second vaccine made by Moderna will be approved and made available next week to supplementthelimitedsuppliesof
Pfizer vaccines already sent to the state and rest of the nation.
And he reiterated that while the vaccinewould be offered to all Floridians, it would not be mandated.
“This has been a tough year, but we’re resilient [and] we get things done,’’ DeSantis concludes.
This is another in a series of videos that the Republicangovernorhasreleasedin thedaysaftertheNov. 3election. He has rarelymetwith the news media or taken questions from reporters since that time, a departure from earlier months in the health crisis when he held news conferences several times aweek.
