NBC 6 gets two new morning anchors

- By Rod Stafford Hagwood

Come February, mornings will look a little different on WTVJ-Ch. 6’s news broadcasts. The South Florida NBC station announced that Constance Jones and Kris Anderson will anchor the weekday newscasts from 4:30 to 7 a.m.

They will work alongside reporters Johnny Archer, Kristin Sanchez and meteorologist Adam Berg.

“Both are exceptional journalists and together with Johnny, Kristin and Adam will help our audiences start their day with the news and information they need every weekday morning,” Dawn Clapperton, vice president of news for NBC 6, says in a press release.

Both Anderson and Jones have experience in the South Florida market.

Jones had stints at WPLG-Ch. 10 and at WLRN-FM radio. She was also the public information officer for the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida, and worked for TV stations in Richmond, Va., Atlanta and Oklahoma City.

Anderson is not only a Miami native, but he was an intern at NBC 6 about 20 years ago. For the last seven years he has been a TV morning anchor and consumer investigator in Boston. Before that he worked for nine years in Memphis, Tenn.

Current weekday morning anchors Roxanne Vargas and Sheli Muniz will take over broadcasts at noon and 4 p.m.
