Carolanne Arter Anand Hart Grancharov (née Carol Ann Arter), 75, left her earthly home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, after having suffered a stroke two weeks previously.

Born on Thursday, May 10th, 1945 to the late Myland Edward Arter and Alice Virginia Kingston Arter, Mrs. Grancharov grew up in her parents’ theater in the Wisconsin river towns and attended the University of Wisconsin (Madison), where she met her first husband and the father of her two sons, Michael and Stephen. An accomplished member of Eta Sigma Phi and Sigma Epsilon Pi, Mrs. Grancharov went on to earn a PhD in Spanish and Latin American Literature before enjoying a legendary 44-year teaching career.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Grancharov taught Spanish, German, Latin, and Drama at Appleton High School West, at Palm Beach Gardens High School, and at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Raton, Florida, from whence she retired in 2012 after having served multiple terms as Artistic Director of both the Charles MacArthur Community Theater and the Spotlite Players. She was named the 2002 Palm Beach Post I Make a Difference Teacher of the Year and also Palm Beach County’s 2007 World Language Teacher of the Year. Throughout the last two decades of her life, Mrs. Grancharov enjoyed dual residency in Kyustendil and in Jupiter, Florida, as she and her husband raised their children together on both continents.

Of all her awards and accomplishments, Mrs. Grancharov was the proudest of her two sons, who both followed in her footsteps as Dwyer Awardwinning teachers. She was also extremely proud of her beloved students’ countless achievements -- too many to enumerate.
