When considering what college to attend, Taylor and Tyler Hendricks knew what they wanted.

The brothers, who helped Calvary Christian win the Class 3A state title as juniors earlier this month, will stick together after they graduate. They both committed to Central Florida on Saturday, announcing their decisions on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

“From the start, me and my brother always wanted to play college basketball together,” Taylor said. “That was probably the most important thing.”

Academics were important to the two brothers, and Tyler said the UCF coaching staff did a good job getting close to his whole family.

“I like the coaching staff,” Tyler said. “They have a great relationship with my family, and I like that they develop their players really well.

The two brothers are looking forward to getting to Orlando and getting to know their future teammates in 2022.

“Just being able to bond with the team and create new relationships with everybody,” Taylor said. “When we got to college, that’s where we’re going to be most of the time.

“It’ll be good to have a good relationship with everybody.”

The brothers transferred from University School to Calvary Christian before the season, and both played big parts in the Eagles’ title run.

Taylor was the Eagles’ leading scorer and rebounder in their championship campaign, averaging 14.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He also averaged 2.1 blocks per game.

Tyler, a 6-foot-5 guard, had a smaller role, averaging 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Taylor, a 6-10 forward and preseason Fab Five pick, is rated a three-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite ranking. He is listed as the No. 25 power forward and No. 136 player in the 2022 class.

He chose the Knights over offers from other in-state programs such as Florida, Florida State and Miami as well as out-ofstate schools such as Iona and LSU.

Both brothers said they want to improve their games going into their senior seasons.

“I’m looking to get more aggressive, shoot the ball more and dribble the ball more up the court,” Tyler said.
