MIRAMAR — It was supposed to be a blind date set up through an online dating app, but it ended abruptly with two men being robbed and one of them shot, Miramar police said.

Barbara Ramona Reyes, 25, is accused of setting up the armed home invasion robbery about 3:20 a.m. on May 6. She was dropped off at a home in the 2900 block of Southwest 120th Terrace within the Montclaire gated-community to meet her date.

According to the arrest report, two masked men followed her into the home demanding money from her date and his roommate who had been asleep.

The date was on the floor with a gun to his head and the roommate awoke to answer a knock at his bedroom door and was greeted with a gun to his forehead.

As the two gunmen searched for valuables, the date ran outside and climbed on the roof and his roommate ran out the front door to escape. He was caught by one of the gunmen and during their struggle shots were fired.

The roommate played dead and Reyes and the two gunmen ran off with the property and cash they stole, investigators said.

Miramar police arrived to find the roommate had been shot in his forearm and lower back. He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of the wounds that were not life-threatening.

One of the masked gunmen was later identified as 20-year-old Matthew Alonzo Lopez. He was arrested March 19 and is charged with armed home invasion robbery, aggravated battery causing bodily harm, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Reyes was arrested Wednesday and is charged with armed home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery. Both remain in the Broward County Jail without bond, records show.

The second gunman was still being sought. The South Florida Sun Sentinel’s attempts to reach the victims by phone for comment were unsuccessful.
