Waterfront estate reflects Spanish coastal villa vibe
A 13,967-square-foot waterfront estate in Coconut Grove evocative of Spain’s grand coastal villas has hit the market, and it can be yours for $22 million.
The two-story Mediterranean home, which sits on a one-acre lot at 3503 Main Lodge Drive in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood, has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and enough amenities to keep any resident entertained.
There’s the 60-footlong pool, 12-seat theater, game room and white sand beach. There’s also an elevator, large eat-in kitchen, family room, formal living and dining rooms, library and eightcar garage. A walk-out basement is currently being used as a man cave.
The property has 102 linear feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay, 200 feet on a canal and a 200-foot dock.
The estate is just one of 19 homes in Camp Biscayne, a private gated community close to The Barnacle Historic State Park that’s also within walking distance of Coconut Grove’s boutiques and

restaurants.
“Camp Biscayne was built in 1903 by Ralph Munroe, who owned the Barnacle,” said Toni Schrager, a real estate agent with Brown Harris Stevens in Miami, who holds the listing. “He had 11 rustic cottages on the property, and it was a stopping place for all of his guests. Alexander Graham Bell and the Rockefellers each had a cottage, and they would go down for fishing and birdwatching in a natural setting.”
The current owners purchased the property in April 2004 for $1.493 million and built the home, which was completed in 2007. Schrager said they are selling because they’re moving to a beachfront property in northern Palm Beach County.
“The house was designed to look like it’s been there forever,” Schrager said. “You have a rolling green acre that goes down to a sandy beach on Biscayne Bay. It’s very special.”
