HOSPITAL VISITATION POLICIES, COVID RULES IN SOUTH FLORIDA

As COVID hospitalizations climb in South Florida, local health care systems are tightening rules on allowing visitors, requiring masks, social distancing, and other guidelines from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control. Here are the current policies at South Florida’s major hospitals. Call or check the websites below to verify requirements before visiting any rehabilitation center or health care facility. Emergency rooms remain open 24/7.

Broward County

Broward Health: Level Yellow visitation policy in effect. No visitation for COVID-positive patients. One visitor at a time 8 a.m.-7 p.m. for COVID-negative patients. One designated visitor allowed in the emergency department waiting room. One visitor per patient in maternity and pediatric units. Virtual visits are encouraged whenever possible. COVID-19-positive patients who are staying in the hospital cannot have any visitors. Those who are staying in the hospital and are COVID-19-negative can have one designated visitor over age 18. People attending routine appointments cannot have visitors with them unless they need special assistance. Masks are required for patients and visitors, even if vaccinated.
