Tanya Acevedo was named Miami Dade College’s vice president for information technology and chief information officer. Most recently, Acevedo was chief technology officer for Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, she was the chief information officer for Travis County in Austin, Texas.

BankUnited announced that Brian Morris joined the organization to lead its healthcare banking team, based in its Miami Lakes corporate headquarters. Previously Morris was senior managing director with CapitalOne Bank in Atlanta.
Amerant Bancorp Inc. announced that Kristy Amaro was appointed to a new C-suite position at Amerant as chief diversity and inclusion officer. Amaro joined the company in 2006 and was most recently people and organizational development manager.
Ron Pillar joined UBS Private Wealth Management as a financial adviser in South Florida. He was most recently at Pillar Capital Advisors LLC, an independent M&A and capital-raising advisory firm that he founded in 2014. Before that, he was managing director and head of J.P. Morgan’s Technology Investment Banking Group.
Global independent alternative investment manager,
Leste Group, announced that Cassio Calil joined the firm to help launch its new mobility strategy. Calil has worked at IBM and JP Morgan. More recently, he was global head of financial services at Miami-based Brightstar Corp.
Tropical Financial Credit Union promoted Marylen Yiris to member experience director. She previously was marketing manager in Miramar. sales management for both the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Orlando Sentinel. Karabag also has worked in sales with other media organizations including Gannett, Townsquare Media, Centro, and Belo.
