Estate offers sanctuary with butterfly garden
If you’re in the market for a new home, but looking for something unique that includes more than the usual luxury accouterments, then check out the “Monarch Estate” in Weston.
In addition to seven bedrooms, 11 baths, a
93-foot-long, infinity-edge pool and a multipurpose sports court, the house has one additional feature that might pique your interest: a half-acre butterfly sanctuary.
The lakefront home, at
3030 Meadow Lane, sits on 1.6 acres in Windmill Ranch Estates, a prestigious community with equestrian facilities that has served as home to numerous professional athletes, according to Senada Adzem, executive director of luxury sales at Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Boca Raton, who holds the listing.
Former Major League All-Star Jose Canseco Jr. was one of the property’s previous owners.
The 15,109-square-foot, two-story home, listed for
$14 million, is being sold fully furnished. Built in 2018, it includes a Savant smarthome system, a commercial grade elevator, a butler’s pantry, a state-of-the-art CinemaTech-designed movie theater that seats 24, a double-island kitchen, a home gym and a surroundsound system comprised of 100 indoor and outdoor speakers.
Outside, in addition to the pool and sports court, there is an in-ground trampoline, a summer kitchen, entertainment space with a fireplace and flat-screen television and a fountain.
The butterfly sanctuary features many species of Florida flowering plants, chosen to create an ideal environment for butterflies to flourish, such as firebush, lantanas, firecracker plants, Texas sage, pentas, Mexican heather and Jatropha.
“The owners designed it to be a true staycation home,” Adzem said. “They’ve traveled the world and stayed at the most extraordinary resort hotels, and that’s what they wanted their home to be for their family.”
According to public records, the current owners purchased the property in May 2014 for $1.5 million and built the house, which was designed by Delray Beach architect Randall Stofft.
Adzem said they are selling because they plan to build a larger home in the area.
