Mansion hits market for $2M more than last year

A 7,512-square-foot contemporary waterfront mansion in Coral Gables was recently listed for $14.9 million — $2 million more than the price at which the house was previously listed in December 2020.

“We took it off the market for a bit because the seller was using the home, and to his benefit, as the world continues to evolve and more and more people move to Miami, they want to enjoy the Miami lifestyle, and that means a nice boat and a nice view,” said Jorge Uribe, senior vice president at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty in Coral Gables, who holds the listing.

“There are not that many waterfront houses that fit those criteria, and this house has an open bay view, so that’s special. The price reflects the market and transactions that have happened,” Uribe said.

The elevated two-story home, at 6946 Sunrise Court, is in the Sunrise Harbour neighborhood of Coral Gables, a guard-gated community located about a 15-minute walk from shops and restaurants.

“Sunrise Harbour has been coveted by boaters for many years because there are no bridges to the bay,” Uribe said. “In the last three years, it’s seen a tremendous amount of purchases of the original ranch homes, with new homes being built.”

The city of Coral Gables,

known as “the City Beautiful,” is a planned community in Miami-Dade County that is home to over 20 consulates and foreign government offices and more than 140 multinational corporations. With its lush foliage and Mediterranean architecture, as well as easy access to employment centers, it’s a desirable place to live for many families.

The home has five bedrooms, four full and one half baths, an open floor plan, double-height ceilings, a custom glass-encased wine cellar, an elevator and a three-car garage. Additional features include a kitchen with Miele appliances, a chef ’s island and a breakfast nook, as well as a primary suite that features two walk-in closets, a private balcony and a Jacuzzi for two.

Outside, there’s a pool, a private 120-foot dock and a boat lift, as well as 189 linear feet of frontage on a canal with direct access to Biscayne Bay.

Public records show that the current owners purchased the property in August 2018 for $4.5 million. According to Uribe, they completely rebuilt the original home, which was built in 1991, with a chic modern design. The renovation was completed in 2020.
