Ultra-modern Bay Colony estate listed for $12.9 million
A look at South Florida’s high-end real estate
An ultra-modern home with all the bells and whistles a luxury buyer might want has hit the market in Fort Lauderdale’s Bay Colony neighborhood. The price: $12.9 million.
“Bay Colony is one of the most-exclusive gated waterfront communities in east Fort Lauderdale,” said Gilles Rais, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty in Fort Lauderdale, who holds the listing. “It’s the only community where you have 24/7 armed guards at your gate, and the whole community is surrounded by water.”
The 10,509-squarefoot home, at 10 Compass Road, has six bedrooms and seven baths. Built in
1994, but fully renovated, its features include an open floor plan, 35-foot ceilings, an office, a custom Italian kitchen with Miele and Sub-Zero appliances, a gym with massage room, club room with bar, a home theater, a glass-enclosed elevator and a three-car garage. The two-story estate is also fully automated.
“One of the most unique features is the 35-foot ceiling height, which you don’t see that often,” Rais said. “It feels super-grand, and the finishes are exquisite.”
Outside, there is a pool, a covered outdoor kitchen and an 89-foot dock on a deep-water basin with easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway.
The current owner purchased the property in January 2016 for $3.1 million. Rais said he is selling because he’s planning to move to another home in the area.
According to brokerage Douglas Elliman Real Estate, single-family luxury home prices in
Fort Lauderdale surged to the second-highest level on record during the third
quarter of 2021, fueled by low inventory and bidding wars. Single-family
luxury inventory fell to the second-lowest level on record. The median
sales price of a luxury single-family home during the quarter was $4.15
million, up 82.4 percent over the third quarter of 2020.
