Chaminade duo, Dillard’s Blount named All-American
Two up-and-coming Chaminade-Madonna stars and one Dillard breakout player were named to MaxPreps Sophomore and Freshman All-American teams on Friday.
Chaminade running back Davion Gause was named a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American first-team pick. Lions defensive back Chris Ewald Jr. was named a second-team MaxPreps Freshman All-American, and Dillard defensive lineman Armondo Blount was named a first-team freshman All-American.
In his first full season as Chaminade-Madonna’s starting running back,
Gause rushed for 1,844 yards and 17 touchdowns. He racked up more than
100 rushing yards in 10 of the Lions’ 13 games. He also had 135 receiving yards and one touchdown catch.
Gause was the backbone of Chaminade’s offense as they won the Class 3A state championship. In the title game against Tampa Berkeley Prep, Gause rushed for
205 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
The Chaminade sophomore was the Sun Sentinel Broward County Class
5A-1A offensive player of the year.

247Sports’ recruiting rankings, but he holds early scholarship offers from Florida State, Georgia,
Georgia Tech, Miami and more.
Blount had a breakout freshman year for the Panthers. He was a firstteam All-County pick after notching 63 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and a team-leading 13 sacks.
Blount is not yet rated in 247Sports’ rankings, but he holds offers from Florida State, Iowa State and Miami.
Ewald made his Chaminade debut on a dominant Lions defense. He had 30 tackles and one interception last season. He was an All-County honorable mention.
