Marc Edward Nichols

Marc Edward Nichols was born on August 3rd, 1951 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where his dad, Gene Edward Nichols, had just graduated from Oklahoma State University. Marc, his

2 and 1/2-year-old brother, Gary, his dad and their mother, Barbara Jane, immediately headed down to Oklahoma City, where Gene would seek their fortune.

Gene joined the Southwestern Bell telephone company as a junior executive, whereupon, the family began its odyssey. They moved from Oklahoma City to a couple of small towns in Oklahoma (younger brother, Danny Benjamin, was born in Anadarko), then back to the Oklahoma City area, then to St. Louis and back to Midwest City, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City.

Marc graduated from Midwest City High School in 1969. He had become an accomplished pianist by the time he was in high school, and enjoyed playing the piano very much throughout his life.

Marc graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1976. In 1978 he moved to Minneapolis, where he became a court reporter. From there he went to Key West, Florida, where he ran his own very successful court reporting practice for several years. During this time, he also obtained a master’s degree in psychology from Norwich University.

In 1996 Marc moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he continued practicing very successfully with a large court reporting firm, doing most of his work in Miami. In 2013 Marc was diagnosed with Lupus of the brain, a rare form of Lupus. This necessitated his retirement from court reporting. He battled Lupus for the rest of his life.

In 2015 he moved to Century Village in Deerfield Beach, FL, and bought his own unit in 2016. Before too long, he was recruited to join his condominium association board, and served as president for the last two years. During that time, he did a typically thorough and excellent job, completing two major capital projects and a number of smaller projects, and significantly improving the management of the association.

Marc succumbed to Lupus on April 26, 2022.

He is survived by brothers, Gary and Danny, sisters-inlaw Joanne and Karen, nephews, Jeremy and Benjamin, niece, Savanna Means, great-niece, Sylvie Means and nephew-in-law, Chase Means.

Marc was much loved, and he will be greatly missed. Services will be held in Oklahoma City.
