Charles County Arts Alliance will hold Call for Artists through July 29 for the Fall Art Show to be held Sept. 26-Jan. 7, 2017 at Waldorf West library, 10405 O’Donnell Place. AKC: Matthew Henson will be 2-3:30 p.m. July 27 at PD Brown library, 50 Village St., Waldorf. Born in Nanjemoy 150 years ago, Henson defied race barriers, financial difficulti­es and other struggles in his goal to be the first person to reach the North Pole. Celebrate this local hero, African American pioneer and explorer, and native Marylander while learning about his history and triumphs through stories and interactiv­e games. Ages 6-11.
